Wattle Work fencing
This a kit of parts in white metal designed to compliment 54mm Roman figures but can be used for other scales and periods such as the English Civil War.
These panels can be seen painted and mounted on the Roman Watch Tower.
Architectural features
for castle and fort building are available including Guerite, gunports and windows.
Guerite, (or Echauguette)
In permanent fortifications a guerite was an enclosed and loop holed sentry-box projecting from the masonry revetment of scarp walls at flanked angles of bastions. Its purpose was to provide a musket-proof position where sentries could see the length of the main ditch and counterscarp.
A number of guerites are available in kit form. Although each one has been designed arround a specific site the guerite itself is quite generic and would be suitable for many other fortified sites arround the world. The Guerite kits consist of three or more resin castings and the modeller is left to source the material for the Bastion itself, i.e. MDF or heavy carton material or plastic card. All other architectural features are supplied unfinished and are shown here as they might look if painted. A painting and finishing service is available.
The Citadel, Hull, England.
This is one of a pair of sandstone sentry posts on this fortification. It is however identical to a guerite from the fortifications arround Hull, England. With a very slight alteration it could easily represent the Santa Catalina Bastion or Santa Barbara Bastion, Fort El Morro, San Juan, Puerto Rico. (Scale 54mm)
Forte Ponta da Bandeira, Lagos, Portugal.
The Fort of the Banners Mast is situated on the outskirts of a small Algarve town, Lagos, this fort overlooks the harbour and was a defensive platform mounting four guns. This was a port of call for the British Fleet making its way to Gibraltar following the Battle of Trafalgar. (Scale 54mm)
Scottish Tower House.
This turret is based on that of a Scottish Tower House. That of Fourmerkland Tower in the Parish of Holywood, Dumfriesshire. It can be seen on numerous other houses and there is also a variation to the roof shape available.
Tower Houses were invariably fortified farm houses also known as Bassel, Bastel or Bastle Houses found throughout the areas between Scotland and England.
This Turret is shown in its natural resin colour. (Scale 28mm)
Large Loop-hole, Window
This window can be found high up on the Torre de Belem but is a common feature on many fortifications. In the situation in which it is found it is more use as a window but the thickness of the wall shows its true nature. (Scale 1/40th)
Covered Balcony, Torre de Belem.
This is a one piece casting specific to the Torre de Belem and consists of thirteen parts cast in resin. (Scale 1/40th)
